Class 10 Study Guide 2026: A Complete Roadmap for 2026-27 Learning Tips

Class 10 Study Guide for 2026 exam
Post Date: May 21, 2026

Class 10 is not just another year of school. It is the year that stays with you for a long time – on your marksheet, on your college applications and in your memory. It is the first time you sit for a major board examination, the first time your marks carry real weight, and the first time you truly understand what it feels like to work toward something important. For many students, it is also the year that determines which stream they will choose – Science, Commerce or Arts – and that choice shapes the next several years of their academic and professional life.

Your Class 10 Learning Journey Starts Here

Here is something that most students do not hear early enough and something we at Tiwari Academy genuinely believe: Class 10 is not as hard as it is made out to be. The fear around it is real, but so is the fact that thousands of ordinary students – students who were not toppers, students who struggled, students who started late – have gone on to score 90 and above simply because they had the right strategy and stayed consistent.
The problem is never intelligence. Do you know, what is the actual problem:

  • The problem is almost always approach.
  • Students study without a plan.
  • They rush to NCERT Textbook Solutions to find answer.
  • They spend hours on subjects they already know and avoid the ones they find difficult.
  • They read chapters without solving questions.
  • They solve questions without revising concepts.
  • They prepare in isolation without knowing what the board exam actually expects from them.

The result is effort without direction – and effort without direction rarely gives the results it deserves.

Making Class 10 Learning Very Easy

At Tiwari Academy, we have spent years helping lakhs of students across every corner of India prepare for Class 10 mathematics in a smarter, more structured way. We have seen what works and what does not. We have seen students transform their results in just a few months with the right resources and the right mindset. And everything we have learned is packed into this single guide.
This is not a generic article that tells you to “study hard and believe in yourself.” This is a real, detailed, subject-by-subject roadmap that covers every chapter you need to study, tells you which topics carry the most marks,ย  shares pro tips for attempting the board paper and gives you direct access to our free NCERT solutions, important questions and previous year papers for every subject.
Whether you are starting your preparation from scratch or looking to sharpen what you have already studied – this guide will give you clarity, direction and confidence.

How to use this Solutions Guide

This is not a guide you read once and forget. Here’s how to get maximum benefit:

  • First read: Go through the full guide once to understand the big picture
  • Subject-wise: Come back to each subject section when you start that subject
  • Links: Every subject section has direct links to Tiwari Academy’s free notes, NCERT solutions and practice questions
  • Checklist mindset: Treat every chapter as a checkbox – study it, revise it, tick it

Class 10 Mathematics Preparation – Complete Roadmap

Mathematics is the subject that makes most Class 10 students nervous – but here is a truth every experienced teacher knows: Maths is actually the most scoring subject in Class 10. The reason is simple. Maths has zero subjectivity. Every answer is either right or wrong. Every step either follows the method or it does not. There is no examiner judgment, no interpretation, no essay writing involved. This means if you learn the correct method and practice it enough times, full marks on that question are guaranteed – every single time. The students who struggle in Maths are not lacking talent. They are either memorizing solutions instead of understanding logic or avoiding difficult chapters instead of facing them. Once you shift from “studying Maths” to genuinely “practicing Maths” – solving questions yourself, not just reading solved examples – the entire subject becomes far more manageable than it looks.

Explore Class 10 Maths at Tiwari Academy, we always tell our students: do not study Maths, practice Maths. There is a fundamental difference. Studying means reading a solved example and thinking you understand it. Practicing means closing the book and solving it yourself from scratch โ€” and then solving five more like it. That shift in approach is what separates students who score 65 from students who score 95.

Class 10 Science Preparation – Complete Roadmap

Science in Class 10 is divided into three parts – Physics, Chemistry and Biology – and each part demands a completely different approach. Physics will test your ability to understand concepts and solve numericals. Chemistry will require you to memorize reactions, equations and properties while also understanding the logic behind them. Biology will demand clear conceptual understanding, accurate diagrams and the ability to explain processes in your own words. Many students make the mistake of treating Science as one single subject and studying it with one single approach – that is where they lose marks. The moment you start treating Physics, Chemistry and Biology as three separate subjects with their own unique preparation strategies, your scores will immediately improve.

Visit to Class 10 Science at Tiwari Academy, where all Science resources are organized exactly this way – chapter by chapter, concept by concept, with NCERT solutions, important questions and diagram practice sheets available completely free. One thing we always emphasize to our students: NCERT is the Bible for Class 10 Science. Every single line in the NCERT Science textbook is important. CBSE board questions are almost entirely picked from NCERT content – sometimes word for word. Read it thoroughly, solve every in-text and exercise question, practice all diagrams at least five times and use our resources to test yourself after every chapter. Science is one of the highest scoring subjects in Class 10 – and with the right approach, it will be your strongest one.

Class 10 Social Science: Complete Roadmap

Social Science is hands down the most underrated subject in Class 10 – and that is actually great news for you. While most students are busy worrying about Maths and Science, the ones who quietly take Social Science seriously end up scoring 85, 90, even 95 marks without breaking a sweat. The subject has four parts – History, Geography, Political Science and Economics – and each part has its own character. History will take you through powerful movements and world-changing events that require you to remember dates, names and causes clearly. Geography will connect you to the physical and economic landscape of India and the world, with map work carrying dedicated marks in the board exam. Political Science will sharpen your understanding of how democracies function, how power is shared and how ordinary people shape governments. Economics will give you a real-world lens to understand development, money, globalisation and consumer rights. Together, these four parts cover a wide range of topics – but none of them are technically difficult. They reward the students who are consistent, who make good notes and who revise regularly.

Class 10 Social Science at Tiwari Academy, where we have structured all our Social Science resources to make this subject as straightforward as possible for you. Our NCERT solutions cover every question from all four books in simple, to-the-point language. Our chapter-wise important questions are curated based on previous year patterns so you focus on exactly what CBSE is likely to ask. And our map practice material ensures you never lose those easy 5 marks that students who skip map work always regret losing. One tip we always give – do not try to mug up Social Science word for word. Understand the events, understand the logic, write in your own structured words and your answers will always stand out. Social Science is a gift of a subject โ€” treat it that way.

Class 10 English: Complete Roadmap

English in Class 10 CBSE is divided into two main components – Language and Literature – and together they cover a wide range of skills that go far beyond just reading and writing. The Language component tests your Grammar and Writing abilities. Grammar includes editing, gap-filling and transformation of sentences – areas where students lose easy marks simply because they never practiced the rules properly. The Writing section includes formal and informal letters, notices, articles and stories – and here is the thing most students do not realize: the Writing section is entirely format-based. CBSE examiners are looking for the correct structure, the right tone and proper presentation. Once you learn the fixed formats and practice writing within word limits, the Writing section becomes one of the most reliable sources of full marks in the entire paper. The Literature component covers two books – First Flight and Footprints Without Feet – and includes both prose chapters and poems. Each chapter and poem has its own theme, characters and important lines that CBSE loves to ask questions about. Students who read the chapters carefully, understand the central idea and practice long and short answer questions consistently will always find the Literature section straightforward and scoring.

Class 10 English at Tiwari Academy, are designed to cover every single aspect of this paper without overwhelming you. Our NCERT solutions for First Flight and Footprints Without Feet are written in clear, board-exam-ready language so you know exactly how to frame your answers. Our Grammar practice exercises cover all the important topics with enough variety to make you confident before the exam. One piece of advice we always give our students – never ignore the Writing section. Most students spend all their time on Literature and Grammar and then rush through letters and articles in the exam. Flip that habit. Practice one writing task every single day in the last two months and watch your overall English score jump by 8 to 10 marks effortlessly.

Class 10 Hindi: Complete Roadmap

Class 10 Hindi is divided into four major sections – Kshitij, Kritika, Grammar and Writing Skills. Together, these four sections make Hindi a highly scoring subject, provided students study it with the right strategy. Kshitij is the main textbook that includes both prose and poetry. The prose chapters help students understand the depth of language and the authorโ€™s ideas, while the poems test studentsโ€™ understanding of emotions, literary beauty and poetic devices.
Kritika is the supplementary textbook. Its chapters are shorter but meaningful and direct questions from these lessons are often asked in board examinations.
Grammar is the section where students can secure the easiest marks. Topics such as sentence types, voice, word identification and ras (literary emotions) become highly scoring once understood properly. Students who practice grammar regularly often score significantly better. The Writing Section includes formal and informal letters and essay writing. Similar to the English writing section, format, clarity of language, and proper presentation matter the most here.
Class 10 Hindi at Tiwari Academy, are available completely free and chapter-wise. NCERT solutions for both Kshitij and Kritika are written in simple, board-exam-ready language so students can clearly understand how answers should be written in exams. Separate notes and practice questions are also available for every important grammar topic. One important suggestion: Never ignore grammar. Many students spend all their time studying literature chapters and leave grammar preparation for the final days. This is one of the biggest mistakes. With the right preparation strategy and proper study resources from Tiwari Academy, scoring well in Hindi becomes completely achievable.

How to Study Smart in Grade 10 – Not Just Hard

Most students who fail to score well in Class 10 are not lazy. They are actually working very hard – but they are working in the wrong direction. They sit at their desk for 8 hours but spend half that time on their phones. They read the same chapter three times but never solve a single question from it. They make beautiful notes with highlighters and colours but never revise those notes again. Hard work without the right method is like running fast in the wrong direction โ€” you exhaust yourself but never reach the destination.

  • Smart Study:
Smart studying means a few very specific things. It means active recall – closing your book and trying to write down everything you remember about a chapter instead of just re-reading it passively. It means spaced repetition – revising a chapter after 1 day, then after 3 days, then after a week, so that the information moves from your short-term memory to your long-term memory permanently. It means solving questions before you feel fully ready – because the discomfort of not knowing the answer is exactly what forces your brain to learn. And it means treating every mock test and practice paper as a real exam – full silence, full time limit, no checking answers in between.
  • Free Support:
At Tiwari Academy, every resource we have built is designed to support smart studying – not just content consumption. Use our chapter-wise important questions to test yourself after every chapter. Use our previous year papers to simulate real exam conditions. And use our NCERT solutions not to copy answers, but to check where your thinking went wrong and understand the correct approach.

How to Use Tiwari Academy Effectively

  • Tiwari Academy has thousands of pages of free content – and the students who benefit the most from it are the ones who use it in a structured, intentional way rather than randomly browsing. Here is exactly how to get the most out of our website.
  • Start every chapter by reading the NCERT textbook first. Do not come to Tiwari Academy before you have at least read the chapter once yourself. After reading, attempt the NCERT exercise questions on your own – even if you get them wrong. Only then open our NCERT solutions to check your answers and understand where you went wrong. This approach forces your brain to engage with the material actively instead of passively consuming ready-made solutions.
  • Once you have finished a chapter, move to our chapter-wise important questions section. These questions are carefully curated based on previous year patterns and are tagged by difficulty level – Easy, Medium and Hard. Start with Easy, build confidence, then move to Medium and Hard. Finally, in the last two months, use our previous year question papers to give yourself full mock tests under real exam conditions. Track your scores, identify your weak areas and go back to the relevant chapters.

A Note To Parents

  • If you are a parent reading this guide alongside your child, there is one thing we want to say to you directly: your child is doing their best. Class 10 is genuinely stressful for students – the pressure of board exams, the uncertainty about stream selection, the comparisons with classmates and the weight of expectation from family all add up to a level of stress that teenagers are not always equipped to handle alone.
  • The most powerful thing you can do as a parent is not to arrange more tuition classes or buy more guide books. It is to create a calm, supportive environment at home. Avoid constant comparisons with other students. Do not discuss marks and results at every meal. Ask your child how they are feeling, not just how their preparation is going. Make sure they are sleeping enough, eating well and taking breaks. And remind them – often and sincerely – that their worth as a person has absolutely nothing to do with their Class 10 marks.
  • At Tiwari Academy, we believe that every student deserves access to quality education and the right support system. Our resources are free because we genuinely want every child – regardless of financial background – to have a fair shot at doing well. Share this guide with every parent and student who needs it.

10 Tips: How to Attempt Board Paper

  1. Read the full paper in the first 15 minutes – plan which questions to attempt first
  2. Start with what you know best – builds confidence and saves time
  3. Follow the word limit – don’t write 500 words for a 3-mark answer
  4. Attempt ALL questions – never leave any blank, partial marks exist
  5. Draw diagrams wherever possible – they fetch extra marks
  6. Underline key terms in answers – it catches the examiner’s eye
  7. Show all working in Maths – step marking is real
  8. Manage time strictly – 80 marks in 3 hours = 2.25 minutes per mark
  9. Revise your paper in the last 10-15 minutes
  10. Stay calm – anxiety kills marks more than lack of preparation.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

When should I start preparing for Class 10 board exams?

The honest answer is โ€” the earlier, the better. Ideally, your preparation should begin from the very first day of Class 10 itself. However, if you are reading this mid-year, do not panic. Students have scored 90+ even after starting serious preparation just 4-5 months before the exam. The key is not how early you start, but how consistently you study once you do. Make a proper timetable, stick to NCERT and use Tiwari Academy’s resources to cover chapters quickly without missing important concepts.

How many marks do I need to pass Class 10 board exams?

CBSE requires a minimum of 33% marks in each subject separately to pass. This means you need at least 26 out of 80 marks in the board exam and at least 7 out of 20 marks in internal assessment for each subject. However, passing should never be your goal โ€” aim for 75+ in every subject and you will have a strong foundation for Class 11 as well.

Which subject is the easiest to score high marks in Class 10?

Every subject has its own scoring potential if approached correctly. Mathematics rewards practice โ€” if you solve enough problems, you will score full marks. Social Science rewards consistency โ€” if you make good notes and revise regularly, 85+ is very achievable. Science needs a balance of theory, diagrams and numericals. English and Hindi are highly scoring if you focus on the writing section and literature answers. There is no single easiest subject โ€” the easiest subject is always the one you have prepared the most.

Is NCERT enough for Class 10 board exams?

For most subjects, NCERT is more than enough to score 80+ marks. CBSE board papers are almost entirely based on NCERT content โ€” especially in Science, Social Science, Hindi, and English. For Mathematics, NCERT exercises are essential but you should also practice extra questions for better speed and accuracy. At Tiwari Academy, all our solutions, notes and important questions are built around NCERT so that you never go off track.

How should I divide my study time between all five subjects?

A balanced approach works best. Give slightly more time to subjects you find difficult, but never completely ignore any subject. A general daily breakdown that works for most students is โ€” Mathematics 1.5 hours, Science 1.5 hours, Social Science 1 hour, English 45 minutes, Hindi 45 minutes. This gives you around 5.5 hours of focused study per day. Adjust based on your personal strengths and weaknesses.

How important are diagrams in Science and Social Science?

Extremely important. In Science, diagrams like the human heart, nephron, reflex arc, ray diagrams for mirrors and lenses and circuit diagrams carry dedicated marks. A well-drawn and properly labelled diagram can fetch you 2-3 extra marks per question. In Social Science, map work carries 5 marks in the board exam. Students who practice diagrams and maps regularly always score higher than those who only focus on written answers.

How many previous year papers should I solve before the board exam?

Solve at least 5 years of previous year papers for every subject. This is non-negotiable. Previous year papers help you understand the exact pattern, the types of questions that repeat, the difficulty level of the actual board exam and most importantly โ€” they train you to manage 3 hours under pressure. Start solving them at least 2 months before your exams. Time yourself strictly. Check your answers. Identify weak areas. Repeat.

What is the best way to revise before board exams?

The best revision strategy has three steps.
First, go through your short notes or chapter summaries โ€” not the full book.
Second, solve 10-15 important questions per chapter from Tiwari Academy’s question bank to refresh your problem-solving.
Third, give one full mock test every 2-3 days in the last month to keep your speed and accuracy sharp. Also revise all formulas, definitions, dates and diagrams every morning โ€” even if just for 20-30 minutes.

How do I deal with exam stress and anxiety?

Exam stress is completely normal and every student experiences it โ€” even the toppers. The best way to handle it is through preparation. The more prepared you are, the less anxious you will feel. Beyond preparation, make sure you are sleeping at least 7-8 hours every night, especially in the weeks before the exam. Eat well, take short breaks between study sessions, and talk to your friends or family if you feel overwhelmed. Remember โ€” one exam does not define your entire life. Give it your best and trust your preparation.

Yes, absolutely. Tiwari Academy has always been and will always be completely free for every student. There are no hidden charges, no paid subscriptions and no premium locks.
