The second major exam – the Annual Exam or Term 2 Exam – usually follows in February–March and may cover either the remaining syllabus or the full year, depending on the school’s policy.

What These Papers Cover: EVS is spread across five shorter sections totalling 50 marks. Section A (10 marks) is a reading-based tick-the-answer passage, often about a class project like a neighbourhood clean-up drive. Section B (5 marks) asks for one-word answers (for example, naming the machine used to withdraw money at a bank or the body part a bird uses to eat). Section C (5 marks) is fill-in-the-blanks using a word bank (terms like landmark, barter, veins, millet and Tulsi). Section D (5 marks) is True/False statements on topics like map directions, bird features and balanced diets. Section E (5 marks) is a match-the-column exercise (for example, matching a post office, a hornbill or the neem tree with their correct use or feature). Beyond this, the paper also includes a neighbourhood map-reading question, a money-management or resource-conservation question and an application-based table on food groups – reflecting the activity-based, real-life approach of the Our Wondrous World textbook.

What These Papers Cover: To keep the exam experience consistent, the Class 4 Maths Half-Yearly Sample Papers follow the same 50-marks, 2-hour blueprint used across English, Hindi and EVS. 1. Simulate real exam conditions. Set aside one uninterrupted 2-hour block, keep only a pencil, eraser and sharpener on the desk, and avoid pausing midway.
2. Read the General Instructions first, exactly as printed at the top of the real paper, so your child gets used to checking section-wise marks before starting.
3. Start with the Reading/passage-based section. It builds early confidence and warms up comprehension skills before tackling grammar or textbook questions.
4. Watch the clock. As a rough rule, spend about 2 minutes per mark (roughly 100 of the 120 minutes on writing), leaving the last 15–20 minutes free for revising answers.
5. Attempt objective questions first within each section – MCQs, fill-ups, true/false and matching – before moving to descriptive answers, so easy marks are locked in early.
6. Plan before writing paragraphs or stories. Jot down 4–5 keywords or bullet points first, then expand them into full sentences within the 80–100 word limit.
7. Self-check using the NCERT textbook once the paper is done, comparing answers against the actual lesson or poem referenced in the question.
8. Keep a simple mistake log. Note down every wrong or skipped answer and revisit that exact topic before attempting the next sample paper a few days later.

• English: Read the prescribed passages aloud once a day for fluency; revise countable/uncountable nouns and prepositions using real objects at home; practise writing one short message and one 80–100 word paragraph on alternate days.
• Hindi: दैनिक रूप से उपसर्ग, प्रत्यय और मुहावरों का अभ्यास करें; एक संवाद और एक 80-100 शब्दों की कहानी नियमित रूप से लिखने का अभ्यास कराएं; “जयपुर से पत्र” जैसे पत्र-प्रारूप वाले पाठों को ध्यान से दोहराएं।
• EVS: Make a one-page chart of body-building, protective, and energy-giving foods; practise reading directions (North-South-East-West) on a simple hand-drawn neighbourhood map; learn one special feature each of at least five plants, birds, or animals from the textbook.
• Mathematics: Practise multiplication tables 2 to 10 for 10 minutes daily; revise conversions between units of length, weight and capacity; solve at least one word problem involving money and one involving time or the calendar every day.
