What does NCERT stand for?
NCERT is abbreviate of National Council of Educational Research and Training. Its works for designing the educational study material, teacher’s training and other development programs to improve the standard of education in school level. It is an autonomous organisation of the Government of India which maintain the standard of quality education in India. NCERT create a common programme of school education that is universally accessible and reflected the pluralist character of India. It was established with the agenda to design and support a common system of school education. The design of latest curriculum is such that it reflects and encourage the expression of the diverse culture across country.
History of NCERT
NCERT was established on September 1, 1961 to provide a quality education for school students with solutions of all educational needs in India. According to Societies Registration Act, it is considered as a scientific and charitable society which work for literacy. The main objective of NCERT is to promote the research in educational ads and help students in their education at level best. It also takes part in bilateral cultural exchange programs with other countries for the education point of view. NCERT also provides various training facilities to educational personnel from developing countries. Its head office is located at Sri Aurbindo Marg in New Delhi, India. For the proper functioning, NCERT located its units in different regions of India. For example, NIE and CIET is based in New Delhi, RIE (Regional Institute of Education) are located in Ajmer, Bhopal, Mysore and Bhubaneswar.

In the NCERT Logo, the intertwined HANSAS shows these three aspects of work of NCERT. The theme of logo is taken from Ashokan Period. Its design is taken from relics of the third century BCE which was found near Maski in Raichur, Karnataka (India). The motto has been taken from Isavasya Upnishad and means life eternal through learning.

NCERT publish its books in Hindi, English and Urdu languages. It provides online softcopy of these books with read-only format. CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) prescribe these books as a course book for class 1 to 12. Most of the states in India now using NCERT Books as course books. The textbooks, printed by NCERT, are good in colourful pictures and the quality of papers. These are the least expensive books in Indian bookstores as compared to any other publisher. If a state is wishing to adopt the NCERT textbooks, he has to send a request to NCERT, upon which soft copies of the books are received to print.

Role of NCERT in Tribe Education>
Under the programme to prepare textbooks in tribal languages undertaken in collaboration with Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore, textbooks and primers in Gondi, Saora, Irula, Warli, Ruthwa as well as books in five tribal languages of the Bihar state were developed. Development of supplementary material, based on folklores and life and culture of concerned tribe, in tribal dialects was also taken up with the view to make education interesting to retain children in schools as well as inculcate a sense of cultural pride and national integration among them.

NCERT stands for (National Council of Educational Research and Training) was founded on 1st. Sept. 1961. NCERT is considered as an autonomous organization of the Government of India. The head quarter of National Council of Educational Research and Training located at Sri Aurbindo Marg in New Delhi and the director of the council is Dr Hrushikesh Senapaty. The Government of India’s Ministry of Education established the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). NCERT formed by merging seven existing national government institutions.
Central Institute of Education, the Central Bureau of Educational and Vocational Guidance, the National Institute of Basic Education, the Directorate of Extension Programmes for Secondary Education, the Central Bureau of Textbook Research, the National Fundamental Education Centre, and the National Institute of Audio-Visual Education are the seven national government institutions of NCERT. It provides curricular and instructional materials for students for many years. It also offer for both National Curriculum for Elementary and Secondary Education.
