NCERT is abbreviate of National Council of Educational Research and Training. History of NCERT

NCERT was established on September 1, 1961 to provide a quality education for school students with solutions of all educational needs in India. According to Societies Registration Act, it is considered as a scientific and charitable society which work for literacy. It also takes part in bilateral cultural exchange programs with other countries for the education point of view. For example, NIE and CIET is based in New Delhi, RIE (Regional Institute of Education) are located in Ajmer, Bhopal, Mysore and Bhubaneswar.

NCERT is focusing on Research and development programs, training the teachers and continuous extension of education in India and word also. In the NCERT Logo, the intertwined HANSAS shows these three aspects of work of NCERT. The theme of logo is taken from Ashokan Period. Its design is taken from relics of the third century BCE which was found near Maski in Raichur, Karnataka (India). The motto has been taken from Isavasya Upnishad and means life eternal through learning.

NCERT publish its books in Hindi, English and Urdu languages. It provides online softcopy of these books with read-only format. CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) prescribe these books as a course book for class 1 to 12. Most of the states in India now using NCERT Books as course books. The textbooks, printed by NCERT, are good in colourful pictures and the quality of papers. These are the least expensive books in Indian bookstores as compared to any other publisher. Role of NCERT in Tribe Education>

Under the programme to prepare textbooks in tribal languages undertaken in collaboration with Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore, textbooks and primers in Gondi, Saora, Irula, Warli, Ruthwa as well as books in five tribal languages of the Bihar state were developed. Development of supplementary material, based on folklores and life and culture of concerned tribe, in tribal dialects was also taken up with the view to make education interesting to retain children in schools as well as inculcate a sense of cultural pride and national integration among them.

NCERT stands for (National Council of Educational Research and Training) was founded on 1st. Sept. 1961. NCERT is considered as an autonomous organization of the Government of India.
