Who are identical twins?
Two people who are born together and look alike are called identical twins. Identical twins generally have the same sex, eye and hair colour, as well as blood type. Their physical features are absolutely same, with most twins having an exact face of the other.
Why did Gregor Mendel want to become a monk?
He wanted to become a monk because he was very fond of studies but the very thought of examinations made him nervous He did not have money to study at the University so he thought of becoming a ‘monk’ in a monastery as he thought that from the monastery he would be sent to study further.
What did Mendel discover in the pea plants?
Mendel found out that following things in the pea plant:
- It had some traits which come in pairs. Like the seed is either rough or smooth. It is either yellow or green, and the height of the plant is either tall or short.
- The next generation (the children) of a plant will also be either rough or smooth. There is no seed which is mixed– a bit smooth and a bit rough.
- He found the same with colour. Seeds which are either green or yellow give rise to new seeds which are either green or yellow.
- The next generation does not have seeds with a mixed new colour made from both green and yellow.
- Mendel showed that in the next generation of pea plants there will be more plants having yellow seeds. He also showed that the next generation will have more plants with smooth seeds.

Who is an adopted child?
An adopted child is the lawful child of the parents who adopt him/her with the same rights, privileges and responsibilities as that of a biological child. As per the adoption order which is issued by the Court, the adoptive parents become parents of the child.

Pulse polio is a programme that is run by the government to eliminate polio from the country. Vaccination camps are organised every month where every child below five years of age is given the polio vaccine drops. The vaccine is given free of cost.

Parents pass on traits or characteristics, such as eye colour and blood type, type of hair, face etc. to their children through their genes. Some health conditions and diseases can also be passed on genetically too. Sometimes, one characteristic has many different forms.
How can polio be prevented?
There is no cure for polio. The disease can severely paralyze, or even kill, an infected child. Polio can be prevented by immunizing a child with suitable vaccination.
List the problems that are acquired due to old age.

• Weak eyesight

The efforts made by the government to eradicate polio are:
• Pulse Polio- It is an immunization campaign which was established by the government of India to eliminate polio in India by vaccinating all children under the age of five years against the polio virus.
• Stopping polio transmission through a combination of repetitive immunization, additional immunization campaigns and following up of possible occurrences of polio.
Who are Non- identical twins?
Non-identical twins are those two children who are born to the same mother but don’t look the same. They are also called Fraternal Twins. These twins have different physical characteristics and features.

Triplets are three babies born to the same parents at a time are called triplets. Triplets can be either fraternal, identical, or a combination of both.

Poliomyelitis virus also called polio virus spreads from person to person through contaminated water which attacks our nervous system. Polio mainly affects children younger than 5.

What are genetic diseases?
Genetic diseases or genetic disorders are those diseases which are inhabited from their parents, while others are caused due to DNA abnormality. It is a disease that is caused by a change, or transformation, in an individual’s DNA sequence.
Who discovered the laws of inheritance?

I found the activities were interesting not only that I found the short stories given in the chapter interesting too. The stories in which the twin sister who usually confuses their mama was the I found funny and Activity which tells to bend the thumb to touch the wrist was challenging enough was the part I like the most.

I think the reason we are connected to our parents is that we took birth from them so which is why we have almost the same habits and features Like nose tongue, eyes, ears like them, not all the features but yes some of them are.
