NCERT Solutions for Class 11 Maths Exercise 2.2

Use of Cartesian product in Exercise 2.2 of 11th Maths

The English and Hindi Medium solution videos are also given here for exercise 2.2 of grade 11 Mathematics. By now, you must know that a Cartesian product of non-empty sets A and B is the set of possible pairs. There the initial components of the pair are from A, and the other component of the pair is from B. These ordered pairs is resulted and shown by A × B. A×B = {(a, b): a ∈ A and b ∈ B}.

Though the example is a crucial part of all exercises, sometimes it is not enough for few cases. I suggest you go to Tiwari Academy’s NCERT solutions App for Maths class 11, where you will find the exercise questions are already been solve step by step. This will provide you the basic idea of solving questions in Exercise 2.2 of 11th Maths.

Use Roaster and Set Builder in Exercise 2.2 of Class 11 Maths

To understand the Relation one must refer to definitions. It is clearly stated that a relationship that is normally signified by R. From a non-empty set A to a similar set B is a subset of the Cartesian product A×B, knowing this you can comprehend that if A has m and B has n elements.

The product A×B makes the element m× n. This makes the three definitions in the section important for the question to be answered in CBSE 11th Maths Exercise 2.2. One has to remember the fact that relations may be shown algebraically by the Roaster method or by the Set builder method which you completed in the previous chapter.

Diagram for representing the Relation

The abstract knowledge of set relations is of no use until you know how to use them in question to find the solutions. That makes the upcoming example 7 and example 8 important. There you will find figures 2.5 and figure 2.6 following the representation of Relation. This looks similar to the Venn diagram from the previous chapter but it is not that.

The illustration is called a mapping diagram to simplify the direction of relations. This also shows which set contains what elements and that is interrelated to other elements of the other set. In the remarks under definitions, you will get to know about the diagram and the value of the arrow to represent the relations.

Questions in Exercise 2.2 of Class 11 NCERT Maths

You almost reached 11th Mathematics NCERT textbook exercise 2.2 and know about the relation to represent. What is the figure that you must learn? This makes the relation one of the easiest topics in chapter 2 from NCERT Solutions. If you see it simply relations are a generalization of functions.

A relation merely tells you that the elements from two sets A and B are related in some way or other. There are only 9 questions in Exercise 2.2 of class XI Maths. Questions are easy but tricky to solve. Simply you can define the relation of set formally as a subset. In the question, you would get the opportunity to use some of the newer mathematical operator symbols.
