More about Triangles
We have studied about triangles and their various properties in our previous classes. We know that a closed figure made of three intersecting lines is called a triangle. (“Tri” means “three”). A triangle has three sides, three angles, and three corners. For example, ABC marked as; ABC, AB, BC, CA, three sides, ∠A, ∠B, ∠C, three angles, and A, B, C are three vertices in the triangle.
Congruence of Triangles
We may have noticed that two copies of our photos of the same size are the same. Similarly, two bracelets of the same size, two ATM cards issued by the same bank, are identical. We will remember that by placing one-rupee coin on another coin in the same year, they completely cover each other. Do you remember what those figures are called? They are called congruent shapes (“congruent” means the same in all types of shapes that have the same shapes and sizes). Now, draw two circles of the same radius and place one on top of the other. What do we observe? They cover each other completely, and we call them congruent circles.
Activities based on Triangles
In Chapter 6, we have also studied some properties of triangles. This chapter will study in detail the congruency of triangles, the laws of congruency, some more properties and oddities of triangles. We have already verified most of these assets in previous classes. Now we will test some of them. Do an activity by placing one square on top of the other with equal length sides or placing two equilateral triangles with equal sides on top of each other. We will see that the squares are identical with each other and hence are equilateral triangles.
Which congruence rules help students to solve questions of exercise 7.1 of class 9th Maths?
