As per the earlier notification of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the last date to apply for the improvement exam is August 15. CBSE has already said that students who are not satisfied with their marks can appear in the optional examination.
It is to be noted that this year’s examinations were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the results were declared on the basis of the performance of the candidates in the previous years. Notably, CBSE had already declared the board exam results for class 10 and 12 students on July 30 and August 3.
Meanwhile, CBSE decided to provide an opportunity to the candidates whose result has been declared as “Essential Repeat”. They will now be able to save their one academic year.
Apart from this, schools have also been advised to include the names of these students in the LOC, the list of candidates for CBSE Board Exam 2021.
If some students, who have applied for the optional CBSE Board Exam 2021, fail to appear in one or more subjects, their result will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the previous examinations. Candidates will have to contact their respective regional offices by August 15, 2021 for inclusion of their names.
As per the earlier notification, the optional exam will start from August 25 and will continue till September 15. This time around, around 35 lakh students had registered for the CBSE board exams. It is expected that at least 30 percent of the total registered students will appear in CBSE 10th 12th Offline Optional Exam 2021.

Students Who Did Not Appear In The Exam:
CBSE has made a big announcement for the students who have failed in the exam and said that the earlier marks will be considered for such students. The notification said – It is to clarify that if a student, who has applied for the optional examination, decides not to appear in the examination in one or more subjects and is deemed to be absent.
This has been mentioned in the notification issued by CBSE on 11 August 2021.
His or her previous result in these subjects will be good and her or his result will be revised on the basis of marks scored in those subjects in which the student appeared for the examination.
