The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will start the 10th and 12th board exams from November 16. These are term 1 exams and will be conducted in MCQ format only. Students have to fill in the given circles on a sheet of paper to mark their answers. CBSE will issue OMR sheets to the schools. Each OMR sheet will be customized, CBSE said.

The Exam will be Around 40-45 Days

CBSE Board offers more than 100 subjects for class 12 students and more than 70 subjects for class 10. Board will conduct examination for only major (subjects offered by all schools) subjects. “If the examination of all subjects is conducted, then the entire duration of the examination will be around 40-45 days. Therefore, in order to avoid loss of learning to the students, CBSE will conduct examinations only for “subjects offered by all schools,” the board said in the notice.

After the Controversy with the Punjab Government:
Term-1 exam will be conducted for a duration of 90 minutes. It will be conducted only for half the exam. Term-II Exam will be held in March, April 2022. Term-II examination will be conducted in subjective format. CBSE, Board exams will be conducted only for “MAJOR” subjects. Following a controversy over Punjab government calling Punjabi a “MINOR” subject, the board has withdrawn the words Major and Minor and instead using the terms “SUBJECTS OFFERED BY ALL SCHOOLS” and “SUBJECTS OFFERED BY SOME SCHOOLS”.

Important Changes in Remembering CBSE 10th, 12th Board Exam 2021

Apart from the exam pattern, many changes have been made in the exam which include:

    • 1) The exam will be held on 50% of the syllabus
    • 2) The exam will be in MCQ format only
    • 3) Examination to be conducted for the duration of 90 minutes (1 hour 30 minutes)
    • 4) Reading time increased from 15 minutes to 20 minutes
    • 5) Exam will start from 11:30 am instead of 10:30 am
    • 6) Practical/Internal to make 50% of the aggregate marks
    • 7) Practical marks will be uploaded on the official portal by 23rd December.
    • 8) No external examiner will be appointed by CBSE Board for practical in Term-1 examination.
    • 9) Schools will use their answer books for practical purposes
    • 10) Board will appoint an observer at each examination centre.
    • 11) There will be one supervisor for every 500 students
    • 12) CBSE will send 2 observers for more than 500 students
    • 13) CBSE will also appoint city coordinators at all examination centres
    • 14) CBSE will make the customized OMR sheet available online to the exam centres.
    • 15) Schools will be provided with a copy of the OMR sheet for practice
    • 16) Separate sheet will have to be given for rough work.

November-December are More Important

The board will conduct two exams this year. Term-1 exams to be held in November-December are more important as CBSE in an earlier circular had said that “if Term-2 exams are not conducted due to the CORONA-19 situation, Then the result will be announced. On the basis of Term-1 examination.

Chance to Apply for Change in Exam centre

Students who are living in a city different from their school will also get a chance to apply for change in the exam centre. Board in a statement said that the board is trying to allot their schools as examination centres to the students to ensure minimum travel. Not only for regular students but also for students who register in open mode, examination centres will be allotted around them to ensure minimum travel.
