CBSE has provided the Improvement Exam Dates for the students of the previous academic year (2020-21), they are busy in preparing for these exams. However, our sources tell us that CBSE’s announcement to upload the much-awaited CBSE Sample Papers for Class 10 and Class 12 students is getting delayed.
Now it is expected that CBSE sample paper will be uploaded on their cbseacademic.in website sometime in the last week of August.

How to Adapt these Term-Based Preparations

A special study plan was announced yesterday to compensate for the further delay in the absence of CBSE sample papers. This scheme is specially designed to provide a simple structure to the students to complete their studies on time for the November-December board exams.
Due to these delays, CBSE Class 10, 12 students and teachers are worried about how to adapt these term-based preparations as many schools are still focusing on completing the full reasoned syllabus, which includes objective + Subjective periodic tests are also included.

1. Study Timeline for Term-1:
As per this scheme of CBSE, irrespective of the date of declaration of sample paper, Term-1 syllabus is suggested to be completed by 25 September 2021 (40 days from now) and Term-1 revision in next 40 days (at least) until 5th November.
CBSE experts say that after normal daily online classes and assignments, students usually have limited hours of self-study left on a daily basis.

How to Prepare

Students Need to Prepare:

    1. Structure their self-study and try to complete the Term-1 course at your own pace by 25th September.
    2. It is required to use only NCERT book and an objective chapter-wise question bank which is specially prescribed for Term-1 MCQ preparation on new pattern.
    3. From the end of September to the first week of November (i.e., 40 days), the focus should be on final revision using sample papers and reverse study of weak subjects after each sample paper.

2. Student Study Hours:
The process of completing the course is explained using a new concept called “Student Study Hours”. Just as professionals work within strict “business working hours”, students must also have their own “study hours” each day, as they have limited productivity time.

    • 1) CBSE experts have come up with a new concept of spending “X hours” every day on certain subjects to ensure that the subject chapters of Term-1 are completed by 25th September (10th or 12th class).
    • 2) Self-study of the main subjects (Maths, Science & SST) for 2 hours per day for class 10, with a total of 6 hours. Two hours of alternating English or social sciences, as those subjects involve a lot of chapters.
    • 3) Overall, 6 hours of self-study should be enough to maintain productivity & flow (besides online classes test/internal assessment assignments etc.).
    • 4) Similarly for class 12 standard, the daily self-study hours will be 8 hours of the science stream breakdown.
    • 5) For CBSE Class 12 Commerce stream, there will be a breakdown of 8 hours between Economics, Business Studies, Accounts and English.

3. Breakdown of Study Materials and Topics

The most important thing here is the correct use of study material. Apart from slides, rough notes and NCERTs, one type of choice for students which CBSE experts recommend covering all (Term-1) Assertion Reasons, MCQs and Cases/Source/Competency/Extract for Term 1 for class 10 and class 12 is MCQs type pattern. There are lots of MCQs which have to solve regularly of any subject.

    • 1) To use the concept of 2 hours study hours per subject per day, a rough plan needs to be made by dividing the chapters into easy or difficult or long.
    • 2) As we can see, in a total of 40 days, focusing on Mathematics for 2 hours per day per chapter, the entire term will be completed by the end of September. (For Term-1)
    • 3) One must use question banks for Term 1 (Class 10) and Term 1 and 2 (Class 12) to practice questions on each topic exclusively with NCERT in 2 hours of study.
    • 4) Covering these Term 1 focused questions daily will help the students to have a good preparation and be ready for the final revision from September.
    • 5) The schedule can be easily made by the students for all the other class 10 and class 12 subjects studying for 2 hours at a time using the reference objective bank for each subject.
4. Final Time Revision

1) Once the complete syllabus is self-studied, following the schedule & structure, students should start revision based on paper-wise revision with CBSE sample paper and marking scheme.

2) Time management will be crucial and by then the market will be flooded with many samples paper books to choose from over the Term 1 objective paper pattern.

3) The main thing is to focus on smart planning as above, practice the new pattern questions in each subject thoroughly and complete your syllabus on time for revision time.
