The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is expected to declare the results of the first board exam by Monday, January 24, claims the report. CBSE told media that no date has been fixed yet. CBSE usually gives a statement on the result dates on social platform.
The board had earlier said that students can expect the result around January 15, however, the final result date is yet to be announced by the board. It is a result of marks only, which means that marks will be awarded to the students but no pass, repeat or compartment score will be declared this time.
Several teachers claimed that there were errors in the answer key
Students can estimate their score before the result from the answer key released by the board. This was the first time that both the Class 10th and Class 12th board exams were conducted in MCQs or multiple-choice question format. CBSE had released the answer keys for almost all the subjects on cbse.nic.in. While many teachers claimed that there were errors in the answer keys and question papers, the answer key can still estimate their marks on the basis of the same. The final answer key will also be released along with the result.
To pass the exam, students need 33 percent marks. In the examinations having both practical and theoretical aspects, students have to clear each section separately. Term 1 exam holds more importance because if CBSE Term 2 exam is cancelled then final results will be declared on the basis of Term 1 result and internal assessment only.

As described by the Board at the beginning of the year, for class 10 in the internal assessment, three periodic tests, student enrichment, portfolio and practical work, speaking listening activities will be considered. Internal assessment for class 12 will consist of unit tests, exploratory activities, practical’s and projects at the end of each topic.

To calculate the probable marks, candidates must first keep the notepad handy. Check the answer key given in the answer key, if it matches with your response in the exam, then give yourself a mark. There is no negative marking for wrong answers, thus zero award is given for wrong answers.
However, there may be errors in the answer key. There are some questions in the CBSE Term 1 exam that were scrapped by the board which included a sexist pass in class 10 English paper and a question on Gujarat violence in class 12th sociology paper. For questions cancelled by CBSE, full marks will be awarded to all students, irrespective of their response.
Apart from this, there were many errors in the answer keys marked by the teachers. CBSE had accepted that the mechanism may not be error free and asked the teachers to lift the same, if any, within the stipulated time. The objection raised will be studied and if accepted, the changes will be reflected in the final answer key.
