Delhi government has started the application process for admission to entry level classes in Sarvodaya Vidyalayas. Announcing the start of the admission process, the Directorate of Education (DOE) said that the application form for the entry level classes including Nursery, KG and Class 1 in Government Sarvodaya Vidyalayas can be obtained from the respective schools.
The last date to apply for admission in Sarvodaya Vidyalayas is July 12. The candidates will be selected through lottery and is scheduled to be held on July 20. Children residing in Delhi within one kilometer radius of Sarvodaya Vidyalayas will be eligible for admission. However, in areas where Sarvodaya Vidyalayas are not available within a kilometer, children within a radius of 3 km will also be eligible.
Directorate of Education, Government of Delhi has also set up a help desk for parents to assist in the admission process. The helpdesk consists of teachers and members of the school management committee. Parents of applicants can get their application forms checked by the helpdesk members.
While announcing the entry-level entry dates, the DOE also clarified that no child with disability, destitute child, refugee or asylum seeker, migrant or child in need of care and protection will be denied admission because of the necessary facilities. are not available. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who also holds the education portfolio, said on Monday, June 28 that no child will be denied admission on the ground of declaring the name of just one parent.
Sisodia in his social media handle said, “No school in Delhi will deny admission to a child on the ground that the child is giving only the name of his single parent.”
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday announced that Delhi government schools will hold Physical Parent Teacher Meeting (PTM) for all classes from July 19 to 31, in which students’ progress will be discussed. Mr Sisodia, who is also Delhi’s education minister, said special PTMs would be conducted for class 6 students, who have joined government schools from municipal schools this year.
“Schools in Delhi have been closed since March last year. They were briefly opened for senior classes earlier this year but had to be closed again due to the COVID situation and there is no need to reopen the schools very soon. There is no possibility. However, online classes are going on as per the session schedule,” Mr. Sisodia said during an online press conference.
“The meetings will be conducted following all the COVID protocols and will be held over a period of two weeks to avoid overcrowding on a particular day,” he added. He also said, “I have emphasized earlier also that there is a need to enhance cooperation between municipal and Delhi government teachers for smooth transfer of class 6 students from MCD schools to city government-run schools.”
“To facilitate this, special PTMs will be organized for them jointly by the school teachers of Delhi government and teachers of MCD schools,” he said.
Mr Sisodia said that special attention will be given to class 6 students, whose PTM will be conducted jointly by the teachers of Delhi government schools and MCD schools.
Every year, around 1.7 lakh students from municipal schools attend class 6 in schools run by the Delhi government.
