Delhi University (DU) has gone almost paperless with most of its operations, including those related to administrative and accounts departments, now linked to the university’s ‘e-Samarth’ portal, a senior university said on Monday. The university said, it has been successful in making most of the processes like admission and examination online.
We have added administrative and accounting work to Samarth over the past few months. We are in the process of connecting everything to Samarth. We have been able to take most of our processes online.
The university is paperless except for a few functions where it is difficult to completely switch from paper to online, he said. Mr. Singh said, – On the superficial and administrative level, we are paperless. But in specifics we cannot say that it is completely paperless as many processes like exams and mark sheets require paper printing.
Even though the process of moving all university operations online began around 2016, the initiative gained momentum only in the last six months, during which most major operations were linked to e-Samarth.
Although a digital version of this is available, a print version is required. Verification of documents and all other notifications will have to be printed, – he said.
We are digitizing most of the administrative tasks and accounting work. We are building a digital library. We are building a digital data bank. We will connect all these with Samarth. Digitizing years of data takes time. We are in the process,- Mr. Pani said.
The University is working to make printing “redundant”, and feels that achieving this requires the participation of all stakeholders. Dean of Colleges B. Pani said that digitization will help streamline the functioning of the university and reduce the dependence on paper.
Delhi University has received approval from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for Master of Business Administration (MBA) program in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode from the academic session 2022 to 2023.
Now the approval of Distance Education Bureau, University Grants Commission is awaited. The program will be started as soon as the approval of DEB-UGC is received.
Meanwhile, the application process deadline for Postgraduate (PG) Admission 2022 has been extended. The last date to apply for DU PG Admission 2022 is now 10th June. Candidates can apply for PG courses in Delhi University.
Candidates belonging to General, OBC and EWS categories can pay an application fee of Rs 750, while the registration fee for students of SC and ST and PWBD categories is Rs 300.
