The Academic Council of Delhi University on Wednesday approved a new process for admitting students to undergraduate courses on the basis of Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores. As per the new process, a central portal will be created for admission to all the colleges, and admission will be done as per the rules laid down in the Common Seat Allotment System (CSAS).
Admission through CSAS will be conducted in three phases – submission of CSAS 2022 application form, selection of programs and filling of preferences, and seat allotment and admission. The allotment of seats will be done on the basis of merit list as per the guidelines issued by the university. The Academic Council has approved the guidelines framed by the Standing Committee for admission of students to undergraduate courses, – said a council member.
Under the new system, a centralized portal will be created for admission to all undergraduate programs of all colleges of the university, and admission will be done as per the rules and guidelines in the common seat allotment system, – one told PTI.
A candidate must select the programs in which they want to take admission. They must confirm the program-specific CUET (UG) merit score for all the selected programmes.
In the third phase, allotment of seats will be done through merit list. If two or more candidates have the same CUET merit score, then the candidate with higher percentage of aggregate marks (class 12 for best three subjects of class 12) will be given preference. If the score is still equal, then the older candidate will be given preference. The entire process will be through a centralized CSAS portal.
For admission through sports quota, 50 percent weightage will be given to the CUET score and the rest will be given to the performance-based test. A person who wants to withdraw his admission will be charged ₹1,000. There will be no option to withdraw the candidature after the declaration of spot admission round. As per the guidelines, multiple rounds of allotment may be conducted in case of availability of seats due to cancellation and withdrawal.
Students must make a one-time non-refundable payment towards CSAS-2022 application fee. Candidates applying under Extracurricular Activity (ECA) and/or Sports Supernumerary Quota will have to pay an additional fee, informed. The second stage of the admission process will start after the declaration of CUET (UG) 2022 result.
