Amid rising coronavirus cases, the Gujarat government on Friday extended the night curfew in 10 cities by two hours. There will be no individual classes in the school for students of class 1 to class 9 till January 31. Coaching centres for students of class 9 above and postgraduate courses as well as competitive examinations can run with 50 per cent capacity, the official release said.
According to the Health Department, 5,400 new cases of coronavirus have been registered in Gujarat since Thursday evening. To prevent further spread of the infection, the government has asked schools to stop offline education for class 1 to Class 9 till January 31 and continue with online lessons only.
Night curfew already in place in eight major cities:
Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar, Gandhinagar, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Rajkot, Surat and Vadodara. The curfew timings were from 11 PM to 5 AM. Now it will be from 10 PM to 6 AM. Apart from this, night curfew will also be applicable in the cities of Anand and Nadiad.
Those who are part of emergency services, pregnant women, patients and their attendants and those traveling to catch flights, buses and trains will be allowed to move during the night curfew. Everyone else is prohibited from stepping out in these 10 cities from 10 PM to 6 AM. Shops and other business establishments in these cities can operate till 10 PM, while home delivery of food is allowed till 11 PM.
Across the state, sports complexes and stadiums are allowed to hold sporting events without spectators, while cinema halls, gymnasiums, water parks, swimming pools, libraries, auditoriums can operate with 49-50 % capacity. The government has said that people involved in such business activities, including owners and employees, should be fully vaccinated. Public parks in the state will remain closed after 10 PM.
From Monday (January 10), the High Court will function in virtual mode only through video-conferencing till further orders, – said a Notice.
Schools will remain closed for students of Class 1 to Class 9 and class 11 in Mizoram amid a surge in coronavirus cases, according to the new CORONA-19 guidelines issued on Friday. Colleges, higher education institutions and universities will also remain closed across the state. Hostels in schools will also remain closed and classes will be conducted in online mode. However, schools and hostels will remain open for class 10 and 12 students, who are appearing for their board exams this year.
It said that training institutes are allowed to remain open with 49-50 % seating capacity. The new guidelines, which will be in force from January 8 to January 31, prohibited worship services in churches during the night.
Classes will also be conducted online in all colleges, higher education institutions and universities. The School Education Department will ensure complete vaccination of teachers and other officers on duty.
Government Offices, Churches and Public Assemblies:
In the AMC area, all Group A and B officers and their employees will be present in the office, while only 50 percent of Group C and D employees will be present in the office and the rest will work from home. It will be allowed only during the day with 49-50% seating capacity. It said mass or mass singing in churches and public gatherings would be prohibited.
Due to increase in CORONA-19 cases, colleges, universities, technical institutes in Odisha will remain closed till February 1. All colleges/universities/technical educational institutions (other than medical colleges/nursing colleges) under the supervision of the Government of Odisha shall remain closed from January 10.
Teaching and Non-Teaching staff will continue to work online:
Hostels of educational institutions will also remain closed. The students will be advised to stay in the hostel in the interest of their personal health. The teaching and non-teaching staff will continue to work either online or offline as assigned by the authorities.
