Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad will conduct the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2021 in three shifts. Candidates will have to enter the examination venue 30 minutes before the closing time of the gate. Candidates will have to report at the CAT exam center as per the reporting time and session as mentioned on the CAT admit card. IIM Ahmedabad has also informed the exam timings on the registered mobile number and email address of the candidates.

Last Minute Guidelines Do’s and Don’ts

    • 1) Candidates have to carry their CAT admit card and ID proof to the exam centre. The admit card should be printed on A4 size paper and will be valid only if the photograph and signature of the candidate are clearly printed.
    • 2) CAT will be conducted on Computer Based Test (CBT) mode, candidates will be allotted 40 minutes for each section and 53 minutes and 20 seconds will be allotted to PWD candidates. After the completion of the said time, the timer will reach zero, the current segment will be automatically frozen.
    • 3) Do not wear any jewellery (or any metal object), shoes/shoes with thick soles and clothes with big buttons inside the examination hall.
    • 4) Candidates will not be allowed to carry mobile phones, electronic gadgets, watches, calculators, their own stationery items, pens, wallets and goggles.
    • 5) Candidates will be provided with a pen and a scribble pad which they will have to submit after the completion of the examination along with the admit card.

Dress code for boys and girls

IIM Ahmedabad has prescribed CAT dress code for male and female candidates which is to be followed on the day of examination. Candidates appearing for the exam will have to go through the search process and no metal object will be allowed in the exam hall.

Exam time & Reporting:
CAT exam will be conducted in three sessions- forenoon session (8:30 am to 10:30 am); Afternoon session (12:30 PM to 2:30 PM) and evening session (4:30 PM to 6:30 PM). Candidates are not allowed to appear in multiple sessions. It is mandatory to carry the admit card of CAT 2021 along with valid ID proof to the exam centre.

Dress Code for Female/Male Candidates:

    1. Candidates should not wear any jewellery or any metal item.
    2. Do not wear shoes or boots with thick soles.
    3. Candidates will not be allowed to wear clothes with big buttons inside the CAT exam centre.
    4. Socks, plain sweaters, sweaters, cardigans with no pockets will be allowed inside the examination hall.
    5. No electronic gadgets including mobile phones, watches, calculators will be allowed.
    6. A pen and a scribble pad will be provided to the candidates while entering the examination hall, personal stationery items such as pen, paper or examination pad will not be permitted.
    7. Do not carry your wallet, glasses to the examination center.
    8. Candidates will have to go through the frisking process and only CAT Admit Card, Photo Identity Card, Mask, Sanitizer, Necessary Medical Certificate and scribe affidavit (if any) will be allowed beyond the frisking point.
    9. Candidates using metal implant, pacemaker etc. must bring a supporting medical certificate of the same to the test centre.

Exam Pattern

As per the CAT exam pattern, the CAT question paper will consist of three sections- Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension; Quantitative Ability, and Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning.

Candidates will be given 40 minutes to solve each section and as the time limit is over, candidates will be automatically redirected to the next section. PWD candidates will get additional time of 13 minutes and 20 seconds for each section.
