Schools in Karnataka are set to reopen from today, August 23. Schools will reopen for Standard 9 to 12 only in select districts.
Similarly, schools from classes 6 to 8 were to reopen in Uttar Pradesh, but due to the demise of former UP chief minister Kalyan Singh, there will be a public holiday in UP.
1) The State Government has issued a Statement of Procedure (SOP) and it is mandatory for all educational institutions to follow the norms mentioned in the SOP.
2) As per the SOP issued, only in those districts where the CORONA-19 test positivity rate is less than 2 per cent, schools will be allowed to reopen.
3) It is mandatory for all the students, staff and parents visiting the school premises to follow the guidelines mentioned in the SOP.
Offline & Online Classes With Protocols:
In Karnataka, schools will also conduct online classes for students who refrain from attending offline classes. It is mandatory for all staff members (non-teaching and teaching) staff to be vaccinated before entering the school premises.
Karnataka CM. B Bomamai has assured parents that the government has been careful before reopening schools and will ensure that all KOVID-19 protocols are followed.
With schools reopening in Karnataka from August 23, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bomamai on Saturday said the government has taken “extreme care” to ensure classroom learning to protect students from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Preparations have been made to reopen schools. Necessary instructions have been given to government and private schools about how to bring students, taking consent from parents or guardians, seating arrangement, classes in shifts on alternate days, cleanliness among other things.
23 August In Alternate Batches:
The Karnataka government had earlier this month decided to reopen schools in alternate batches for class 9 to Class 12 (II PUC) students across the state from August 23.
The Chief Minister appealed to the parents to get vaccinated, pay attention to the health of their children and in still confidence in them. When asked whether children can attend classes without any fear, he said. Absolutely, our intention behind reopening schools is that children start coming to schools gradually, from about one and a half years ago. They haven’t gone to school, we want them to start attending gradually, – he said.
In Uttar Pradesh, classes will be conducted in two shifts in all schools following all COVID-19 safety protocols. The two shifts are as follows: The first shift will be from 8 am to 12 noon and the second shift will be from 12.30 pm to 4.30 pm. Classrooms will have only 50 percent accommodation at all times.
In both Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh, schools are set to reopen for class 9 to 12 and classes 6 to 8 respectively.
