The Happiness Curriculum, launched in 2018, with a vision to strengthen the foundation of happiness and well-being for all students through 34-35 minute classes every day for all students from Kinder-Garten to Class 8 standard in 1,032 national level government schools was brought.
Describing the Delhi government’s Happiness Curriculum as a “huge success” in schools, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Saturday claimed that 16.5 lakh children in Delhi schools start their day with their brains every day.

Gift, Given By India to The World

Describing mindfulness as a “gift” given by India to the world in the field of emotional science, the Deputy Chief Minister (Former education minister) said that it has been limited to 15 minutes from its true goal of focusing on one’s life.
DCM said that by practicing mindfulness even in the tough times of the CORONA pandemic, children have worked to keep themselves as well as their families stress free.

Understanding Its True Meaning:
People have learned to meditate very well, but have not learned to pay attention to their lives. If we practice mindfulness by understanding its true meaning and start paying attention in our lives as well, we can never do anything wrong, – advised Mr. Sisodia.

Children Increased Focus in Studies

Mindfulness is the cornerstone of the Happiness Curriculum and one of its biggest strengths is that every day 1.6 million children in Delhi start their schooling with dedication. This has come as a turning point in the lives of the students studying in Delhi schools and has freed the children from stress and increased their focus in studies, – Mr Sisodia said.

Objective is to Make Mindfulness a Mass Movement:
“Mindful Education Awards 2021” is an initiative to recognize, honour and support the efforts of schools in creating a mentally and physically healthy environment for the growth and development of children. Mr. Sisidia said that the Delhi government aims to make mindfulness a mass movement and a part of everyone’s life in the city.

State Teacher Award

State Teacher Award By Delhi Government:

    • 1) Delhi Government today honoured 123 teachers with State Teacher Award as part of Teachers’ Day celebrations.
    • 2) Teachers were honoured in 13 different categories including special education, sports, librarian, mentor, guest teacher and faces of Directorate of Education.
    • 3) The award was presented to 123 school teachers from Delhi for their contribution to their profession and going beyond their “CALL OF DUTY” during the CORONA-19 crisis.
    • 4) A TGT maths teacher awarded the state teacher award for using the arts to teach her subject.
    • 5) It is because of our teachers that the Delhi education system is now being recognized globally, – the minister said.
    • 6) Another award holder Sushama Kumari has been awarded for the Personality Development of her students.
    • 7) Rene Bala of Govt. Sarvodaya Vidyalaya has been awarded the State Teacher Award for using pedagogy, creativity and innovation in education, curriculum development, effective teaching and role playing for learning.
    • 8) While two teachers have received the State Teacher Award in the special category, they have been instrumental in mobilizing help for students whose parents could not afford a smartphone in their ward and reach out to students from whom Couldn’t be contacted over phone for online classes during the CORONA-19 pandemic.
