Tripura colleges and hostels will reopen from August 25. All degree, technical and vocational colleges have been allowed to reopen.
Whereas, the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education on Saturday said that it will follow the advice of the Higher Education Department while deciding to introduce semester-based courses for class 11 and 12 in the state board in future.
The media recently reported that the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) may think of influencing the semester-based curriculum based on the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in the two-year higher secondary courses from next year or later.
WBCHSE Will Not Make Any Corrections:
Things cannot be completely prepared by us as many factors are at stake, indicating that West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) will not make any corrections on its own in “2022 or 2023”. The council will do what the higher education department recommends, what the ministers recommend.
WBCHSE’s newly-appointed chairman Dr. Chiranjeeba Bhattyacharya said whether next year’s Higher Secondary Examination (class 11 & 12) will be offline or not, it will also depend on the instructions of the government and the CORONA-19 situation at that time.
The developments came after protests by students who failed the higher secondary examinations across the state in July.
The state government on August 13 appointed Jadavpur University vice-chancellor Bhattacharya as West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) chief after the removal of Mahua Das from the post.
Corona Plays An Important Role:
The number of unsuccessful candidates was estimated to be over 17,900 and they were declared passed after re-evaluation following the intervention of the state government.
The examination could not be conducted this year due to the CORONA-19 pandemic and the students were evaluated following an alternative assessment system based on the marks obtained by them in the previous examinations.
Tripura colleges and hostels that are to be reopened will have to follow the guidelines on seating arrangement, cleanliness and teaching mode.
The state government has also issued certain guidelines or standard operating procedures, SOPs, which are mandatory to be followed to ensure the safety of all.

The state government has said that colleges can adopt any convenient mode of teaching as long as it suits them and their students.
If there is space problem in Tripura’s colleges and hostels or teachers are unavailable to teach, it is important for these institutions to adopt alternative measures.
