SIRF should be started on the lines of NIRF. This will help promote a healthy competition among institutions and strive for improvement by all. It will also help the students in getting admission, and will also help the placement agencies in the selection of institutes, – the CM said.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday asked officials to introduce a state-level ranking structure for educational institutions on the lines of NIRF for “healthy competition”. He also asked the officials to prepare a new sports policy of the state with the cooperation of the players.
NIRF was launched in 2015 by the Union Ministry of Education (then called Central Human Resource Development) as a framework to rank education institutions across the country.
Shri Adityanath gave his instructions while presenting an action plan for education before the state ministers. A new sports policy for the state should be prepared at the earliest. The CM said that the help of sports professionals should be taken for this.
He said the education sector had been in the grip of the “education mafia” for a long time but his government ensured “cheat-free” examinations. Emphasizing on preparing “skilled youth” to suit the needs of the market, he said that new subjects like drone technology, internet, cyber security and data science should be added in the curriculum.
Mr Adityanath considered for a new pattern for class 12 exams under the state board by 2025 and for class 10 by 2023. He advocated the introduction of internships for class 9 and class 11 students under skilled professionals.
He asked them to prepare a plan for the establishment of an international pharmacy, a bio-engineering research institute, and a school of planning and urban management.
The CM asked the officials to expedite the work of Major Dhyan Chand Sports University in Meerut and appoint a “distinguished sportsperson” as its Vice-Chancellor. He directed to set up career counselling cells in every institute, cashless treatment facility to government school teachers and ensure money for uniforms and other items to students in the form of direct cash transfer in the next six months.
CM said that Directorate of Sanskrit Education should be formed within two years. He called for a program for online teaching of Sanskrit at Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya in Varanasi, which should also include “Traditional Sanskrit” concepts of ‘Karmakanda’, ‘Vastu Shastra’ and Astrology.
