There is good news for the school students of Delhi. Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia today said that the registration process for admission to the New Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE) affiliated School of Specialized Excellence (SOSE) in partnership with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Board has begun.
The Delhi government had earlier said that 20 Schools of Specialized Excellence (SOSE) would be started under the board by August 15. These include 8 schools specializing in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Each consists of 5 schools specializing in the humanities and higher. Finish 21st century skills, and two in the performing and visual arts.
Admission will be given in STEM schools for classes 9 and 11 and in other schools in class 9. As per the information 120 seats are available in each school and admission will be given on the basis of entrance test result.
Mr Sisodia, who also holds the Education Department. Glad to announce that admissions for Delhi School of Specialized Excellence are open. A community of youth with special abilities and skills is being created in these schools.
DBSE Will Get International Level Education:
The Delhi government signed an agreement with the IB Board on 11 August. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that schools under DBSE will get education of international standard.
DBSE will start from 30 schools, which includes 20 SOSEs. Private schools can also be affiliated to DBSE, the national capital government had said earlier.
Children Home South East Delhi Unable To Identify The Two Digit Number:
According to a survey by DCPCR, around 45 per cent of children living in children’s homes in south and south-east Delhi were unable to recognize double-digit numbers, while 25 per cent of children surveyed could not even recognize numbers.

The Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) conducted a baseline assessment of children in childcare institutions in July. The survey was conducted in 31 children’s homes in South and South East districts and covered 410 children in the age group of 6 to 18 years. Most of those surveyed were in the 12-15 age group.
There are around 100 childcare institutions in the national capital and a third of them are located in South and South-East Delhi.
The survey found that 36 per cent children could not read Hindi stories, while 18 per cent children could not even recognize Hindi letters. It also said that 25 per cent of people were not even able to recognize numbers, while 46 per cent could not recognize two-digit numbers.
DCPCR Chairman Anurag Kundu said that this is a pilot project initiated by the panel and to work towards enhancing the basic and numerical skills, it has started a reading campaign in the institutes. The objective of the campaign is to ensure that 100% of children can read fluent Hindi with comprehension and perform arithmetic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
