Cartesian plane in Class 9 Exercise 3.1

Chapter 3 from NCERT Solutions for Maths class 9 coordinate geometry can be counted among some of the smoothest chapters from the 9th class curriculum. Where you will learn many concepts and how to use them in the Cartesian plane. After understanding the concept of Cartesian plane all the questions in Exercise 3.1 of 9th Maths looks easier.

Learning the Coordinates on Cartesian plane

To be precise it refers to the study of algebraic equations on graphs. Before attempting exercise 3.1 from 9th Maths chapter 3, you must go through the paragraph introduction and Rene Descartes’s contribution. Though, it was only a small part that is given in the book about the Mathematicians. However, he has given some major contributions in the field of mathematics. For example – Here you will learn what exactly you can expect from the chapter 3 of grade 9 Maths. Not only that, if you read closely the question 1 – 2 from exercise 3.1.

More about the Cartesian plane

The Cartesian plane often referred to as the x – y plane or the coordinate plane is used to represent the data on a grid line graph. In Class 9 Maths chapter 3, we studied the brief information on who and how Rene Descartes originally came up with the idea. A Cartesian plane is described as the intersection of two perpendicular number lines namely the x-axis which is a horizontal line and the y-axis as the vertical line. Each of these lines is called a coordinate axis (plural axes) of the system.

Representation of points in a Cartesian plane

The first number, x, is the horizontal position of the point from zero (also called the point of origin). It is known as the x – coordinate. Then the second number, y, is the vertical position of point zero. It is known as y – coordinate. The entire mathematics chapter 3 of 9th mathematics revolves around the functions of these coordinates. Before the complete first part of the coordinate geometry, you are suggested to know about what is coordinate geometry. There are two questions in exercise 3.1.

The common thing about the question is both of them have the same ways of solving the question. It is just a matter of the object that is used in the question. For which you must learn the concept of the chapter so that you can use the mental Maths to reach your answer.
