### About Class 11 Maths Exercise 14.3

In this part of chapter 14 Mathematics class 11th is about the compound statements. In mathematical language these are called “Connectives”. Here you will learn the role of these words. In the matter of words ‘And’ from paragraph, you will learn how to connect two statements that are about the same topic. It doesn’t always use the words the name of the subject, though the statement is about the subject.

#### Use of Connectives in Exercise 14.3

There are some important things that you might want to keep in mind while working with the connectives. First, “And” will link two statements, if components of these statements are true makes the entire statement true. Second, if any of the components proved to be false then it will make the entire statement false, irrespective of the fact that half of the sentence is correct.

In NCERT example 6 you will read 3 different statements that are linked with “And”. If you see the second statement, half of the statement about the integers is correct. But the second part of the same statement makes the entire statement incorrect.

##### Exclusive Sentences in Ex. 14.3

Inclusive or exclusive are the two different parts of connective “Or”. Here are two different true statements forming one statement. Both of the true statements don’t need to agree with each other. Like –Two lines are either parallel or intersect each other. In the given examples, you will read two different cases, but notice “Or” connecting them.

If the first case of the statement takes place then the second cannot happen or vice versa. This forms a dilemma of choice in economics terms. You either choose apple or orange. Both are true and this is called “Exclusive”.

###### Working with Inclusive Statement in Exercise 14.3

On the contrary to exclusive, there will be inclusive also. Now, this should give you an idea of how inclusive works. It joints two different statements and joins them to form one true statement. Like – If you have studied Biology or Maths in CBSE class 11th you can apply for B.Sc. for higher education. This includes two different subjects to make one true statement.

This is called inclusive. In example 7 you will be given four different statements. Here you will classify them into inclusive and exclusive statements with reason. In textbook of 11th Maths exercise 14.3 you will study four questions and different statements. If you look closely you may find that some statements are using algebraic equations. These are some advanced reasoning that you will learn.
