The graphical representations of linear inequalities

Before proceeding to understand the graphical solution of linear inequality, you must know the 4 rules that is given in the graphical representation of linear equalities. In class 11 Mathematics exercise 6.2, initially it represents that how the inequality can be true and false through trial and error method. Sometime it is long but accurate method. However, not very efficient in case of examinations or other tests situations. This is the part where you will get the cue of exploring more ways to solve the equations.

Rules to remember for Exercise 6.2 of Class 11 Maths

Don’t get the chances of getting confused. At the beginning of the passage the chapter described the rule. Learn these rules for the linear equations. This you must recall before you go ahead with the other two rules for the inequalities. This shall help you compare these two rules and also give you a clearer picture of how the inequality is going to function.

Rule 1 states that you can add the same number in LHS and RHS, but this would not change the sign in the expression.
Rule 2 is directly linked with the above-stated rule which simply means that you can multiply and divide the expression in LHS and RHS, but is to be noted here that once you use any of these functions with a negative number then the sign of the inequality will be changed or reversed. This is only valid when you use a negative number for both sides.

Visible applications of the rule in problems

In Class 11 Maths NCERT Exercise 6.2 Example number 2 will give you a clear demonstration of where the rules have been used. This example is important for the students who still have doubts about the application of these rules to actual problems. This is suggested by the experts that when you will practice solving questions from Exercise 6.2 you can keep the examples and rules handy. Though you are not supposed to use it in the examination. It will make you familiar with the application.

Graphically demonstration of the expression

In previous classes, you have already studied how helpful the graphical representations are. In linear inequalities this can be along with the method to receive the coordinates from linear equations in one variable and two variables too.

This gets you the knowledge of how the Cartesian plane has been divided into four different quadrants with individually negative and positive different values. This makes the knowledge of using the Cartesian plane easier for you. You can pay more attention to solving the inequality expression for marking the coordinates.
