Personal Cleanliness

Personal cleanliness means keeping our body parts and belongings clean. Each and every part of our body is important. So, we should take care of them properly.

Taking Care of Teeth and Gums

Our mouth is very sensitive part of our body. It has teeth, gums and tongue. We use our teeth and gums for eating and tongue for taste. So, we must take care of them. Germs can grow easily in our mouth if we do not keep it clean.

Taking Care of Ears

1. Do not use sharp objects to clean your ears.
2. You can use ear buds to clean ears.
3. Avoid listening to loud music.
4. Take bath regularly.

Taking Care of Eyes

1. Wash your eyes with clean water two or three times a day.
2. Do not rub your eyes.
3. Never read in moving vehicle or in dim light.
4. Do not watch T.V. for long or at very short distance.

Taking Care of Nose

1. Blow your nose gently to clear the blocked nose.
2. Do not insert your fingers into the nose. Use clean handkerchief.
3. Do not put any sharp objects inside the nose.

Taking Care of Hands and Feet

Hands are very important parts of our body. We use our hands for various activities. Besides, we use our hands for eating. If we do not keep our hands clean, germs may enter into our body while taking food. We should also keep our feet clean. Here are some tips to clean hands and feet:
1. Bathing is the best way to keep our hands and feet clean.
2. Wash your hands with a good soap after coming from toilet.
3. Wash your hands and feet after playing.
4. Wash your hands before and after meal.

By Means of Balanced Diet

Food is our basic need. We eat food to live. Besides man, all the other living beings need food to live.
We eat different kinds of food. Different kinds of food help us in different ways. Some food items give us energy; some food items help our body to grow and some food items protect us from diseases.

Energy Giving Foods:

Some food items give us energy. These food items are called energy giving food. For example: bread, rice, wheat, potato, sugar, etc. are energy giving food. These food items contain carbohydrates. Carbohydrate is a good source of energy. Fat is also a good source of energy. Butter, ghee, oil, etc.

Body Building Foods:

Some food items help our body to grow well which are called body building foods. For example: pulses, milk, eggs, fish, nuts, etc., are body building food. These food items contain proteins which help our body to grow.

Protective Foods:

The foods which protect us from various diseases are called protective foods. Protective foods contain vitamin and minerals that give power to our body to fight against the diseases. Green vegetables, fruits and milk are good source of vitamins and minerals.

Balanced Diet

The combination of food items that gives us carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins and minerals in right proportion is called a balanced diet. A balanced diet is good for health.
